Storing Breast Milk Storing Breast Milk In Sandwich Bags?

Storing Breast Milk in Sandwich Bags? - storing breast milk

I know this is not a good idea to freeze the milk in Ziploc bags, so I bought Lansinoh storage bags. But I wonder whether the OK to the milk in sandwich bags (Ziploc) business - in the fridge for the same day?

Sondra,

I wanted to chime in here with an answer to your question. As you know well pumping takes a lot of effort and you want to be sure your milk is safe and secure. While ziploc bags are made for food storage, they are not pre-sterilized or as thick as the Lansinoh bags (which are made thicker with a special blend of polyethylene plastic that is safe for breastmilk storage),or made with a double zipper lock seal to give a tight seal and to protect against leaks. Plus, there is a special place off of the body of the bag on which you can write your details such as the date you pumped, your name, etc. If you are saving in a communal fridge (for instance at work) that is especially important. Hope this helps and keep up the great work pumping!

You can do this, but sandwich bags are porous, so that other flavors from the refrigerator Leech.
You can also save in a DB or cleaned every other kind of container, if the memory is not an option.
